EXPLORING THE INOPIA UNIVERSE TRHOUGH DRAWING, PAINTING & DIGITAL MEDIA

Ink as a tool for developing curiosity

Ballpoint Drawing: The Most Immediate Gesture in the Inopia Universe
It is the line that emerges without intermediaries, where imagination flows directly onto the paper, surrendering creative control to the subconscious. Rather than seeking a predetermined outcome, it discovers one, extracting profound symbolism and using it as raw material to generate the next figure, in the spirit of automatic drawing. This creates a self-feeding narrative world where form and meaning interplay, expanding endlessly to satisfy infinite curiosity. This ecosystem can be simple or complex, born from spontaneous, impulsive strokes or soft, obsessive ones, gradually revealing the landscapes and creatures that inhabit it, captured in the ballpoint lines that freeze that fleeting moment of discovery—when a shape is still somewhere between what it is and what it could be.
The Rotring Pen: Introducing Precision to the Inopia Imaginary
Through a constant, defined line, characters and landscapes are constructed with clarity, as if mapping the Inopia world. Each stroke adds volume, fixing what was once merely a possibility, shaping creatures and symbols that share a common visual language. The Rotring often works over the sketch, consciously consolidating ideas on paper, but sometimes, even this uniform line wanders at its own will, revealing that the solidity of this technique can become light and ethereal, extending beyond initial intentions and yielding to spontaneous impulses and unplanned discoveries.

Rather than seeking a predetermined outcome, it discovers one, extracting profound symbolism and using it as raw material to generate the next figure in automatic drawing. "DEEP"

Ballpoint on Paper
This work is a physical and psychological self-portrait, capturing personal experiences, thoughts, and ideas. It marks the birthplace of the Inopias through automatic drawing and the reinterpretation of “mistakes.” These are represented as a multitude of creatures and layers that interact with one another, weaving interconnected stories.

Painting: Expanding the Inopia Universe
Painting extends the Inopia universe by creating atmospheres that evoke moods, intentions, or meanings, accompanying the creatures on their adventures.
Using brush, marker, or even pouring pigment directly onto the surface, the degree of control varies with each work, generating backgrounds or figures with which the Inopias interact. They let their curiosity flow, exploring new planes of reality, transforming and learning from them, discovering new questions and answers. Sometimes, they themselves create these environments, experimenting and expanding the limits of their world, their creative capacities, and their imagination.

Behind the Works
Behind these pieces lie messages about the power of art to interact with—and even transform—reality, the potential of abstract imagination as raw material for reason to connect ideas and symbols, and the role of curiosity and doubt as engines of the mind to discover beyond intention. They question the established, celebrate personal thought as the seed of individual expression or style, exalt the natural soul over socially imposed artifices, and much more.
Inopias appear in various situations, seemingly simple, while the viewer interprets the narrative and draws their own conclusions—just as I often did during the creative process. As I like to say, the process consists simply of observing what the Inopias do and reflecting before, during, and after their appearance on the surface, considering what their actions might mean.
INOPIA
BEYOND
?
Just as some ideas escape their intangible world to take shape when their creator brings them to life, this series of Inopias has managed to break free from their native paper world to roam the material plane and wander through reality at will.

PAREIDOLIA
?
Pareidolia is a continuous experiment in mixed media, using materials such as acrylic, oil, gouache, or watercolor as a base, later enhanced with Rotring, pencil, or ballpoint pen.
A subconscious impulse creates a blot of paint —a “cloud”— whose shape is neither controlled nor deciphered, simply floating in a white limbo awaiting conceptual transformation. Afterwards, the conscious mind inevitably detects recognizable figures, projected from empirical knowledge and conceptualization, giving form to the formless chaos, turning the abstract into the figurative.
Pareidolia works acquire new shapes and meanings each time they are observed by a new viewer, whose unique perspective will likely compose figures different from anyone else’s, adding their point of view and enriching the depth of the piece simply through observation.
DIGITAL
Expanding the Inopia Universe through digital works
?
Beyond ink and paint, the Inopia universe also evolves through digital media.
These works explore new possibilities of form, texture, and atmosphere, allowing the creatures and structures of this world to exist in different dimensions, once again expanding the boundaries of their adventures.
DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION
?
Triggered by events, celebrations, personal whim, or commissioned by individuals or companies, the Inopias expand through digital media. Sometimes invited, sometimes intruding, they never miss an opportunity to explore new frontiers—even if it means becoming pixels or vectors.
NFT PROJECTS
?
Various NFT projects where an Inopia is always hidden, even if not the main character.
Over 5 projects developed, creating NFTs as well as visuals for web, Discord, Twitter, and Instagram, including posters, roadmaps, banners, ads, branding, icons, and more.
