The pleasure of exploring abandoned places might come from the many questions about the past of that place: its former appearance, its contents, its purpose, its activity… These are questions that may be wandering through the minds of the Inopias now exploring the old building. But surely one of them goes even further, imagining the place once occupied by the crushed rock that, mixed with cement, now forms the structure, and what became of the creatures that inhabited the quarry — perhaps now abandoned just like the building, and inhabited in turn by other beings, just as these Inopias are now inhabiting the place that humans destroyed to build, only to abandon later.

This work belongs to the series “Alterations”, composed of paired pieces that show the before — nature in its pure and balanced state, offering us benefits if we coexist with it responsibly — and the after, where the previous scene appears altered by a negative human action, selfish and self-interested, where often it is not enough to strip nature of its vitality, but it even becomes a waste by failing to properly make use of the resources obtained.
