Descripción:
During 2019–2020, Australia experienced the worst fire season in its history. More than 18 million hectares burned, 12 million of them forests, with a devastating impact on the biodiversity of southeastern Australia. This could be one of the clearest examples of environmental devastation caused by fire, often driven by economic and speculative motives, where every year vast areas of land are left barren as everything on their surface is reduced to ashes. Yet it is also another story of resilience, of rising stronger from the ashes and learning from what has been experienced, as well as of raising awareness about the fragility of the world and helping one another, as these Inopias do by pruning a burnt tree so it can sprout again more easily and offering water to the animals affected.
This work belongs to the series “Elements”, which includes pieces devoted to the defence of nature, revealing the consequences of irresponsible actions carried out by humanity, driven by greed and selfishness. Despite the pessimistic situations depicted, the positive message to take from it is that there are lessons to be learned in order to improve and change the declining course to which we subject the environment, and the Inopias try to help in each situation while having fun, knowing that everything can still get better.
